46. But here that was not there: was not notorious the Socialist Realism, fostered by norm setters from ideology and KGB’s, with a blue gleam, observers of Foundations. 

47. Well and so … Sukhanov more told about his farmers affairs and chores: about behavior of bees, improvement of beekeeping, habits of cows, beef jerking in a smoke of smoldering alder, it seems, branches, feasted me with farmers sour cream and honey.

48. Once, I have brought to the Owner the slides, which have been shot by me in a former Ukrainian manor of the Czar’s railroad engineer Golubev. There were mosaic panels on walls of their family cathedral made by the Russian painter N. Roerich, student. Sukhanov then has read the true lecture about Roerich. I have remembered his words: artful Roerich. Seem, my interest to N.R was not shared.

49. Another time, I spoke about my attitude to the Russian painter I. Levitan; reaction has followed instantly: “ Jewish melancholy in Russian landscape ”. Though it was insulted me toward Russian landscape, I had have to recollect about great Russian poet S.Yesenin's ironic remark, concerning Russian birches in a poem of the certain poet, of a native Jew. 50. To be clear, is obliged to tell, that in Sukhanov himself and his family, there was neither any shadow of anti-Semitism, nor, in general, any interest to this theme, that is a test of the greatest decency and intelligence. Though once, Sukhanov has shown me, maybe for my development, the ancient church book, belonging to his ancestor where, almost on each page, "Jews" were mentioned, with bond strong condemnations to them, certainly.

46. Но вот чего не было там: не было пресловутого соцреализма, выпестованного нормировщиками от идеологии и гэбистскими, с голубым просветом, блюстителями устоев.

 47. Ну а так… рассказывал Суханов больше о своих хозяйских делах: о поведении пчел, усовершенствовании пчеловодства, повадках коров, вялении мяса в дыму тлеющих ольховых, кажется, веток. Угощал хозяйскими сметаной и медом.

 48. Однажды, привез Хозяину слайды, снятые мной в бывшем украинском имении царского инженера-путейца Голубева. Мозаичные панно на стенах их фамильного собора были выполнены H. Рерихом-студентом. Суханов прочел настоящую лекцию о Рерихе, помню его слова: хитрый Рерих. Кажись, мой интерес к H. Р. не разделялся.

 49. В другой раз я говорил о моем отношении к И. Левитану; реакция последовала мгновенно: “еврейская грусть в русском пейзаже”. Хоть обидно было за русский пейзаж, пришлось про себя вспомнить замечание С. Есенина по поводу русских берез в стихотворении некоего поэта – еврея по национальности.

Чтобы быть ясным, обязан сказать, что в Суханове и его семье не было и следа не то что антисемитизма, а даже вообще интереса к этой теме - проба высшей порядочности и интеллигентности, хотя однажды Суханов показал мне, может для моего развития, старинную церковную книгу, его предку принадлежавшую, где почти на каждой странице “жиды” таки упоминались, с проклятьями, конечно.
